Bullish Square Privacy Policy
How the Bullish Square iOS app collects, uses and protects your information.
This policy describes how JDev IT Services ("we", "us") handles information in connection with Bullish Square ("the App"), a stock and crypto watchlist with market news. We collect only what the App needs to work. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
1. Using the App without an account
You can use the App without signing in. Your watchlists, saved articles and settings then stay only on your device. Deleting the App deletes them.
2. Your account
If you create an account, we use Firebase Authentication (Google) to sign you in, with either:
- Email and password. Firebase stores your email and a protected form of your password; we never see the password.
- Sign in with Apple. Apple shares your name and an email address with us, which can be an Apple private relay address if you choose to hide yours.
We keep a profile for your account in our cloud database (Google Firebase Firestore) with your name, your email, and a phone number if you choose to add one. Your profile photo stays on your device; it is not uploaded.
3. Watchlists
If you sign in, the watchlists you create (their names and the stock and crypto symbols in them) are stored in Firestore, linked to your account, so they are available after reinstalling the App or on another device. You can delete a watchlist at any time in the App. Signing out removes your account's watchlists from the device; they stay in your account. Deleting your account deletes them from our servers.
4. Ask AI and the market summary
In the News tab you can type a question about the news, such as "why did the market fall today?". When you do:
- Your question is sent to our server and then, together with recent news headlines, to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, which writes the answer. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on this data. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- We do not store your question or link it to you. Our server keeps a copy of the answer for up to an hour so the same question is not sent twice; it is not linked to who asked.
- To apply the daily question limit, the App sends your account ID if you are signed in, or else a random ID the App creates on install (not your device's identifier). Our server counts questions per day under a one-way scrambled form of that ID, so the stored counts do not contain the ID itself. These counts are deleted after about a week.
The "Why markets moved" summary is written the same way from the day's headlines. It uses no information about you.
5. Market data and news
Most prices, charts, search results, analyst targets and news reach the App through our own server, hosted on Railway, which requests them from market data and news providers (such as Yahoo Finance and CNBC). A few are requested by the App directly from a provider: market index prices and the portfolio simulator's prices from yfapi, and cryptocurrency prices from CoinMarketCap. The symbols you look up are sent with these requests to fetch their prices, and a provider the App contacts directly sees your IP address, as any website would. None of these requests include your account or profile information. When you open an article, it is loaded from the publisher's website, which has its own privacy policy.
Like any web server, ours records basic technical information about requests (such as IP address, time and the address requested) to operate and secure the service. These logs are kept only for a limited time and are not used to identify you.
6. App security, usage and crash data
- Firebase App Check uses Apple's App Attest to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the App, which protects our servers from abuse.
- Firebase Analytics collects how the App is used (for example which screens are opened), your device model, iOS version, app version, approximate region and an app-instance identifier. We use it to understand and improve the App, not for advertising.
- Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports (what the App was doing when it crashed, device model and iOS version) so we can fix bugs.
These services are provided by Google and governed by Firebase's privacy terms. The App does not use the advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
7. Who we share information with
Only the service providers named above, and only to run the App: Google Firebase (accounts, cloud storage, App Check, analytics and crash reports), Railway (hosting our server), Anthropic (Ask AI and the market summary), Apple (Sign in with Apple and App Check), and the market data providers in section 5, which receive only the symbols being priced. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We never sell or rent your information.
8. How long we keep it
- Account, profile and watchlists: while your account exists.
- Ask AI daily counts: about a week. Cached answers: up to an hour.
- Analytics and crash data: according to Firebase's retention settings.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the App under Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your sign-in account, your profile and your watchlists from our servers, revokes Sign in with Apple access if you used it, and clears the App's data on your device.
10. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we use it. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date below, and tell you in the App if the change is significant.
